A recent story…
As a small business owner you never know who might walk through your front door. This past summer I was pleasantly surprised by a visit from a very special couple, Pat and Agnes Roach from Winston-Salem. They popped in for breakfast one quiet morning. My mom insists all her friends stop by 67 for a meal when visiting Asheville. (Thanks Mom!). I’m always glad when it happens. This couple has been friends of our family for as long as I can remember. They were close to us when I lost my father at the age of 11. Pat was a role model and friend during those emotional times. And it just so happens that Agnes, a smart and talented woman all her own, actually employed me in my first ever food job! Before her current career in real estate, she ran her own catering business out of her house. She hired me to help her with a few gigs from time to time. I was about 16 years-old at the time and remember tasting those delicious Philippino inspired dishes. Little did I know at the time that those were the first glimpses of my own future career. Funny how life works out. It was great for me to catch up with both of them and to share some memories!
